That sounds like a generous deal - helping the dying Bruce Phillips give his money to charity in return for a $1.8m share of it.
I can’t imagine why he’s chosen me to be so fortunate though. Maybe it’s because my email address has found it’s way onto a list that spammers and scammers use? Or am I just becoming too cynical?

As you read this, don’t feel sorry for me, because it is the destiny of everyman to die someday. I am
Bruce Phillips a naturalised briton by birth and a business merchant based in the United Kingdom. I
have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer.
It has defiled all forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live,
according to medical experts. I regret that I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really
cared for anyone (not even myself), but my trade. Though I am very well to do, I was never open
handed; I was always hostile to people and regarded them like they never had hopes of becoming as
successful as myself. Now I know that there is a lot more to life than just prosperity.
I believe that when I am given a second chance to come to this world, I would live my life a different way
from how I have lived it. Now that death is eminent, I have willed and given most of my belonging to
immediate and extended family members, as well as a few close friends. I want Allah to be merciful to me
and accept my soul. Hence I have decided to support charity work; this is what i want to be remembered
for. So far, I have been able to reach out to a few charity organizations in the singapore, Algeria and
Malaysia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore.
I once asked members of my family to aid me in giving of alms to those organizations catering for the less
privileged in Bulgaria and Pakistan; they refused and kept the resources to themselves. Hence, I do not
trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contempt with what I have left for them.
The last of my belonging which no one knows of, is the huge deposit of Eighteen milion US dollars that I
have in a safe keeping company abroad, which I will want you to secrue and bestow to charity
organizations.
Please endaevour to reply me . For your time and devotion, I have set aside a tenth of this for you.

It makes me laugh that he complains he can’t trust his family yet here he is emailing a complete stranger. Of course, everything he says is complete rubbish - it’s a scam. The ruse being that, like all advance fee scams, there will be problems before the cash is available. Problems that the victim would have to pay to resolve, despite Bruce Phillips supposedly having $18m!
Wang Zhendong, a Chinese citizen, has been sentenced to death for scamming people out of 3 billion yuan ($387m).
The case against him heard how he conned investors into thinking that he could produce medicines and elixirs from mature ants. Such ants are thought to provide a natural remedy to arthritis.
Wang, however, made all sorts of wild promises in order to persuade purchasers to pay up to 10000 yuan ($1300) for the ant which were costing him a mere 200 yuan.
Around ten thousand investors gave Wang the ability to spend almost 800 million yuan on clearing his debts, amongst many other things. When authorities put an end to the scam only 10 million yuan was recovered.
Fifteen managers of the company received fines of between 100000 and 500000 yuan in addition to stiff jail terms. Wang, who claimed he knew nothing about the true costs of raising ants, is likely to be put to death by firing squad.

turn of events. I could not think what even after 8 months of
acquaintance he can so unscrupulously act with me. Now I am in Moscow
trip to Moscow and reception of visa. I do not want that all was gone
for nothing and will be glad if my visa will be useful to our meeting.
I could arrive already through 4-5 days, but a problem in that that
now I have no man which would like my arrival. Probable it will silly
sound but if you will be interested in a meeting with the good woman I
shall like to meet you sometime soon! As Peter was dishonest with me I
have decided to find the man which is interested to meet the woman from
Russia. I do not know your ideas about my letter, but it would be fine
if we could meet and have some weeks or months together. On my trip I want to
receive rest from my work and a life in Russia. Also the basic purpose
for the future it is search good men for serious attitudes which go to a
marriage. I have no children, but I want to have children in the future.
I am the mature woman and ready to creation of family with good man. I
do not know what you really search in the future but if we could meet I
shall be happy to discuss with you more about our meeting. What are you
going to do this time? It would be fine if we could meet, do
friendship or more than simply friendship. I shall be happy if you also
have a free time and we could meet soon. I do not know your interests,

Somethings never change - that email address she quotes isn’t the sending address. That was, in fact, hprwcbdg@cenifax.com, a domain which is registered to someone in the US - it looks like a network solutions type of company. I wonder if they realise they are party to this type of networking request?!?
Awww, poor Lady Peggy Morrison has cancer and has recently had a stroke too. Maybe she has senile dementia too as she sees this as good reason to give you, a complete stranger, 20 million pounds!!
Then again… maybe she has another reason to enlist your aid into this offer?

Well here is a slightly new variation on the advance fee scam - this time the scammer is (allegedly) from Zimbabwe. We all remember the problems there in 2002 with the governments vs. the farmers right?
Now, after 2 years of mourning… making it 2004? Mrs Ncube is ready to cash in on her late husband’s fortune….

My name is Mrs. Rosemary Ncube and my sons name is Pascal Ncube. I
am a refugee from Zimbabwe presently residing in South Africa.

great sense of loss having just finished a customary two (2) year
