Scam Emails

Oooh that sounds like an easy way to get $20, let me click that link. Hmmm, hang on, I’m not a customer with Chase Bank. This is strange!….

Dear Chase Bank Customer,

The Chase Bank Online department kindly asks you to take part in our quick and easy 5 questions survey.

In return we will credit $20 to your account - Just for your time!

With the information collected we can decide to direct a number of changes to improve and expand our services. The information you provide us is all non-sensitive and anonymous - No part of it is handed down to any third party.

It will be stored in our secure database for maximum 7 days while we process the results of this nationwide survey.

We kindly ask you to spare two minutes of your time and take part in our online survey.

Well it sounds like a good deal. I’m sure the information I provide is non-sensitive and anonymous, just like they say! I wonder where that link will take me, and what the email header says -

From: “Chase Bank” do-not-replay@chase.com

do-not-replay@chase.com hmmm, strange that a bank would have such a typo on the email address in their header. As for the link in the email, well, that actually points to chase.com.kinauer.com/update/index.html

That means that the actual website is kinauer.com and that chase is a subdomain of .com which in turn is a subdomain of kinauer.com. In other words, this is a scammer’s site - do NOT go there!!!
