Hoax Or Not?

Friday, September 21st 2007

Mayak radio station in Moscow reported that a 15 year old boy from the Urals suffered acute frostbite after riding on the wing of a Boeing 737 plane for an entire two hour flight from Perm to Moscow.

The young boy, Andrei, reportedly clung onto the wing for the whole 808 mile flight to Vnukovo Airport.

After landing, he collapsed onto the tarmac with his arms and legs so severely frozen that rescuers were unable to remove his coat and shoes, the radio station said.

Moscow’s air and water transport control department said that the boy’s parents were immediately informed, and flown to the capital later that day.

Astounded doctors claimed a miracle, saying that Andrei would have had to have survived speeds of up to 560 mph, temperatures of around minus 50 degrees centigrade and a condition known as hypoxia (lack of oxygen).

Andrei, who reportedly made the flight after a succession of family feuds, subsequently made a full recovery in a Moscow hospital.

Is the above story true?

Or have I made it up?

TRUTH or HOAX.. what do you think?

Oxygen gets thinner(?) at altitude as far as I know, leading to something called hypoxia at altitudes over about 10,000ft.

The higher up you are the quicker it takes effect, leading to unconsciousness and, ultimately, death if you don’t descend to a lower altitude quickly enough.
