Mary Kay Lipstick Contains Lead

Shocking!
Apparently, many brands of lipsticks have been discovered to contain lead which can lead to cancer. This includes those from Mary Kay!
How do I know this? Well, the following email gives all the details -
Even lipstick isn’t safe anymore…what’s next? Brands don’t mean everything. Recently a brand called “Red Earth” decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90. It contained lead. Lead is a chemical which cause cancer.
The Brands which contain lead are:
1. MARY KAY
2. LANCOME
3. CLINIQUE
4. Y.S.L (Yves St. Laurent)
5. ESTEE LAUDER
6. SHISEIDO
7. RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
8. CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
9. MOTNES LIPSTICK.
The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of causing cancer.
After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Yves St. Laurent (YSL) lipstick contained the most amount of lead. Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer. If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.
Here is the test you can do yourself:
1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
3. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick contains lead. Please send this information to all your girlfriends, wives and female family membersThis information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dioxin Carcinogens causes cancer. Especially breast cancer.
In case you haven’t guessed, this email is a hoax and has little to no basis in truth. Whilst it may be true that traces of lead can be found in lipstick - from the colourings used - the level is regulated by the FDA and is well within recognised safety limits.
Additionally, the cancer risk is minuscule. Lead can indeed cause cancer but it is extremely rare, especially in such small quantities. Lead poisoning is far more likely to lead to brain damage (in extreme cases), headaches, nausea and hair loss than cancer.
If you receive this email then don’t panic and don’t send it on.. just delete it!

Phew!!
For a second there, I thought I was in danger of the feared Lipstick Cancer. After all, my wife wears Mary Kay lipstick. I kiss my wife (a lot):D
Worse, I was afraid that the product my wife has come to love was as evil as some people say it is. Yikes!
This reminds me of the panic that ran around school when I was younger and we all discovered the warnings on sugar-free gum saying that the gum we were chewing was found to cause cancer in lab rats or something like that!
Also, the very famous Mountain Dew rumor caused some deal of concern, especially among the guys!
As soon as I saw the email you used as a “source”, I was quite releaved, and then of course further assured by your conclusion!!! Thanks.

I had a feeling you would be the first person to comment!
But there is a different story about kohl or kajal (an eye makeup)used by women in the middle-east, Asian countries. It does have high levels of lead and is banned by FDA..More recently the quick “henna” tattoo a chemical counterpart to the herbal henna is known to cause painful rash.I am not sure if it contains lead though. What is worrisome is people use kajal on newborns (as a belief to ward off evil) while children are more susceptible to lead poisoning.
Kohn is, or was until recently at least, used in a lot of cosmetics in the UK so that is worrying!
However, I wish to add something about homemade kohl which is made out of soot, castor oil and some herbs and is considered safe and acts as a coolant protects the eyes from the glare of the sun.
If you listen to everything said by food and medical experts then you would probably have to starve.
In the news in my area recently they have warned that it is potentially dangerous to eat all types of meat!!
