Emails that suggest that particular children are missing are becoming increasingly common these days.
Some are true, such as in the cases of Andrew Thompson and Matt Leveson.
Others are hoaxes, such as Ashley Flores and Evan Trembley, which distract peoples’ attention away from the true cries for help.
The following email, about Penny Brown, falls into the latter category and should not be believed.
PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURE THEN FORWARD
I am asking you all, begging you to please, forward this email on to anyone and everyone you know, PLEASE. My 9 year old girl, Penny Brown, is missing. She has been missing for now two weeks. It is still not too late, Please help us.

The Penny Brown missing child hoax has been going around the internet and into inboxes since 2001 and keeps resurfacing every few months or so.
If you happen to receive it then please note that no-one by the name of Penny Brown has been reported missing so please don’t forward this one.

Sorry but these false alerts upset me. How can people find this sort of thing in any way amusing or entertaining?
I totally agree with you Katherine and don’t understand it either.
