Thanks For Being So Loyal

in Misc. & Off Topic

Like many website owners I am a stataholic.

I  like to know how many people are visiting this site, where they come from and what they are reading.

As many long-time readers will know, I had a major issue with my database some time ago.

That led to this site being virtually inaccessible for a long time. About 6 months in fact.

After fixing the problem, and salvaging around 70% of my posts, I managed to get Scam Types dot Com back up and fully functional again on the 6th June.

Visitors

On that first day I received a whole 3 visitors to this site -a far cry from the 4,000 visitors per day that I had been used to, but at least it was a start.

Today though, just some 4 weeks or so later, the situation is very different.

rss

I have today, for the first time since the ‘re-birth’ of the site, hit 1,000 unique visitors in a day.

What’s more, I have also topped 100 RSS subscribers once again.

Thankyou

I know for a fact that the majority of traffic I receive does not come from random search engine queries – a lot of you have this site saved in your browsers.

Such loyalty, especially for a site that was experiencing such problems for such a period of time, is exceptional.

It is also very much appreciated.

THANKYOU ALL.

Thanks for the Newsletter info. I have been getting info about Aweber as well. I’m going to compare and contrast. :D

If you find a better / cheaper option please let me know as it’s something I’m thinking of getting into again in the near future.

Another observation I meant to add to the original post, something that really fascinates me, is the fact that most of the friendships I have developed through this blog have been with the most unexpected people.

Considering my more than obvious anti-mlm outlook, it is interesting to me to realise that it is the pro-mlm crowd I get on best with.

Just goes to show that you should take people as they come and not judge them on one or two beliefs they may have doesn’t it?

I also had you saved in my favorites. I kept checking back. ;)

I think it is important to remember that people can still be friends, even with different beliefs. :D

I’m not subscribed  but I love visiting your blog. I had a questions for ya. On another thread we were discussing newsletters and you mentioned free advertising. I wasn’t sure if you were referring to advertising for my blog or free customer newsletters. If you know free newsletter sites, I’m all ears! I was looking at Constant contact, but it’s not free.

I, too, have a new blog site as you may know. I moved from wordpress.com to my own domain. I experienced a plummet in my numbers, but this past week I have seen things come back to life more.

Anyway, I’m happy your blog is back. I was sad when it was gone. :)

    Hi Shades

I was actually referring to free blog advertising. If you want some tips on that just ask and I’ll be more than happy to give you a few pointers.

As for free newsletters, I have never found a free service that is particularly good.

Aweber.com have a service (a very, very good one in fact) that starts at $29 per month for up to 2,500 subscribers if that fits within your budget.

I would imagine your drop in visitor numbers would be down to the fact that your changed your domain names – any incoming links to the old site simply do not point to the new one.

Now that you have your own domain you have a lot more control – if you ever delete pages, change post names, etc you can use redirects to ensure that your incoming links still work for you.

Again, just ask if you ever need any assistance with that.

Lastly, thanks for missing me :)

Are you sure you’re not 2 subscribers? Or are you going to behave this time Col? ;) :D

Either way, I’m pleased to have you here.
