Undelivered Parcel Scam

Scams

It happens all the time doesn’t it? You wait in for that parcel you have eagerly been awaiting and it doesn’t arrive. Later, when you go out, you return to find a card from the postal service saying that they are sorry to have missed you and that you need to call them to rearrange delivery.

Many people recently have been receiving such cards, whether they were expecting a delivery or not, with the phone number 0906 661 1911 to call. This, however, is NOT the parcel delivery service. Instead it is a premium rate number, belonging to a scammer in Belize, that will add £15 to your phone bill!

Remember, if you miss a parcel delivery then the card should offer you the opportunity to collect in person or provide a local phone number to dial. If the card is from a national company, and you don’t recognise the dialling code, then you can always do a quick search online as there are many websites that will give you a fair idea of the geographical location of a phone number. If it comes back as a mobile or premium number then DON’T call it!
