What Exactly Are You Looking For?

Scams

Confused!Like anyone who runs a website, I view my stats on a fairly regular basis, though I’m not quite as addicted to it as some people I know.

Today, for the first time in ages, I thought I would have a detailed look at the phrases that people type into the search engine that ultimately lead them to this site.

Most of the results were fairly predictable, and totally expected. For example, the top 5 words or phrases that people found Scam Types dot Com with recently were -

YTB Scam
Apple Patch Diet
Mona-vie
08447739922
Evan Trembley

However…

There were also some pretty darn strange results too -

Where can I find magic mushrooms?
Evisu jeans tight bum
Girl forces UN torpedo
Make salami sandwich
Name of first mouse on moon

What were these people thinking?!? Or, more to the point, what were they really looking for, and what exactly did the search engine give them when they got here?

This begs the question… what are YOU looking for here???

Ok, your patience is about to be rewarded (inside joke, see comments here)

First of all, I have had a few unusual search terms land on my page as well.

giovanna mezzogiorno naked
if marieholm technical
tasty david shepherd

To name a few!

But now onto the main event… What Exactly am I looking for?

I found Scam and his site when he did a post about Mary Kay. I found this post because it was mentioned on a website that I was reading.

I have since come to enjoy the fact that I never know what I am going to get when I surf in.

So, what exactly am I looking for? I am looking for a place where I never know what I am going to find. And that is exactly what I find here!

Being an avid cricket fan, I can agree with the sentiment that david shepherd is tasty :D.

As for never knowing what you are going to get when you visit here, I quite agree… I never know what I’m going to write until I sit in front of my keyboard!

I have several categories and I like to mix up my writing so that I don’t spend days at a time writing about the same sort of thing - the posts about MLM ’scams’ get the most visitors but continuously going on about that would get boring in my opinion.

I also like to try and make some of my posts humourous, informative or just plain provacative for the same reason - variety is the spice of life!

I’m glad you found us Jon, you’ve become a valued contributor in a very short period of time and I, for one, appreciate your sense of humour here as I have seen similar sites where the discussion gets way too serious and tetchy and that is not what I am after.

cricket eh?!

I have seen some video footage of this game…

I just don’t get it!! (the rules that is, it does seem like an entertaining sport to spectate at or ever participate in!)

So if I understand, your sport(s) of choice are

Cricket
Football (euro style, not american)
Rugby

While I prefer

Soccer (futbol or football depending on locale)
Football (american, not euro)
Disc Golf (in case you can’t guess from the title, it is a game that combines Golf with plastic discs that most people would call frisbees!)

But for some real fun, perhaps we should see about getting some tickets to some of these lesser observed sports!

You certainly find some weird stuff online Jon!

I like football, cricket, judo, f1 and golf. I don’t like rugby, never been able to get into that.

Of course, how could I forget about F1!!!

I really like fast cars. I would have loved to take my ‘96 Nissan Sentra out onto the Ring!!! But alas, she got pummeled by another Japanese make on the way to the car wash :(

I doubt if we could have gotten very far north of 100mph, but we would have had a swell time of it anyway!!

Did you like the unconventional sports? I think my favorite is unicycle hockey!

The Nurburgring is a great track for speed but I have always preferred Monte Carlo - can’t beat the street racing.

I don’t ever really have time for sports these days :(

I have had many a good race on Monte Carlo

The “Nouvelle Chicane” (after the tunnel!) has caused many a profane word to slip!

(I am of course referring to a video game that I played a couple of years ago!!)

I also have found very little time for sports these days :(

Speaking of driving though, started another blog yesterday, something I have been meaning to do for some time. Perhaps you could help me find some content for this one!! Unless people drive exceptionaly well by you?!

Just think of the team we will make!! You expose scams, I expose bogus drivers!!!

How about this for a couple of ideas -

1. Find some videos of extremely poor driving on YouTube and embed them on your site.

2. Take a video of yourself or friends driving crazily on a video game, and then post that along with some crazy, wacky story and run it as a spoof example of bad driving?

I love it!! Thanks for the ideas.

I am hoping to create a user generated type site, where real people can “vent” their real frustrations!

I think that the YouTube idea should help get the conversation started.

Play a video game very badly - drive the wrong way round the track, crash into other cars and end up in the lake.

Video it, add some narration, explaining it is your wife driving.

Give it the title - “Why women drivers suck!”

:D

Wow, I think I am going to tell your wife!!!

Just Kidding!

This is supposed to be real world stuff though, not video game stuff.

I always see people on the road here that simply should not even be allowed behind the wheel. I rarely get angry, but when I see these folks act as if they are the only ones on the road, it makes me wish there was some way to single them out and excert some positive peer pressure on them.

Enter the new site! Hopefully it will catch on, and there will be a whole community of drivers who engage in the driving experience and respect the people around them!

“don’t get me started!!”

It might work - poor driving can be an emotive subject so I could see people coming to your site to vent some of their frustrations.

That is what I see too -

This blog will use your MyBlogLog avatar if available before looking for a ‘gravatar’

The smiley face is the default avatar there.

Nice looking car Jon but are you really allowed to drive that at the age of 120?

Well there was some talk of me needing to be retested, but really, I have been driving since I turned 17, and I don’t think I am really all that bad…

This guy on the other hand….

I really appreciate your idea to use youtube!! So much material!

I wouldn’t recommend using YouTube all the time but if you add your own comments it can will in effect be unique content in the eyes of the search engines.

There is some great stuff on there and, yes, you are right, that driver was shocking!!

Once again, thanks for the link :)

Good points - both of them.

I will be sure and add some of my own content — probably a “don’t get me started” section as well!!

Also, not using youtube all the time will help it not become something that you could find yourself in a matter of seconds!!

Maybe I will just have to sit out on a corner by my house once or twice a week with a camera to record the insanity!

Do you have any stories you would like to share?

It is 3am here, I just got done watching a movie, opened my email, saw that comment, and even though I am sitting alone, I laughed out loud (kind of startled myself!!)

That is hilarious (maybe thats just the 3am talking though!)

I meant, ‘have you seen any crazy drivers that you would like to share?’

I have a few that wouldn’t go over too well with law enforcement myself!

Not particularly funny, but once I was at a junction waiting to turn right.

Traffic from the other way was quite busy so I was sat there for a good few minutes before another car drove straight into the back of me.

The driver got out and said “sorry, I didn’t see you there!”.

I take it that post is referring to Scroogle is it?

I believe that is correct! Never actually heard of any of this until Aruna said illegal google, and I thought, “how catchy, that should be a website!”

A quick google search of the term “illegal google” turned up among other things the article about the (potentially) illegal version of google.

My 2 cents, where would we be without search engines? If google suddenly said that the only way to access their search results was by paying a nominal monthly fee ($5 - $20 for instance) I would probably still search with them over the other search engines out there.

Ok, maybe I am exagerating… $20/month would be a little steep I think. But the internet without google would be kind of like exploring the world - pre-cartography!

Sorry, I digress.

Yes, I think the article is reffering to Scroogle!
